(Counselling Process and Skills)

Ministry Category
Introduction to Counselling (Counselling Process and Skills) Syllabus
This course introduces the core principles, ethics, clinical techniques, and procedures of personal counseling, integrating relevant biblical and spiritual perspectives alongside social science frameworks.
The primary objectives of this course are to enhance conceptual thinking about counseling through an integrated biblical and psychological worldview, while developing foundational counseling skills including active listening, rapport-building, assessment, problem-solving, and boundary management.
Upon completion of the course, students will demonstrate proficiency in short-term counseling techniques—such as empathy, goal-setting, identifying exceptions, sustaining change, and providing feedback—and gain the ability to facilitate future-oriented, solution-focused conversations with clients. Additionally, students will learn to articulate personal boundaries and recognize the limits of their own counseling competence.
