Understanding Culture Engaging People Syllabus
Understanding the cultures of our neighbors—both locally and globally—enhances our ability to build authentic relationships, share God's Word, and communicate the gospel effectively. This course examines global and Canadian cultures across historical and contemporary contexts through twelve key dimensions of cultural formation. By comparing these dimensions with the cultural settings of Scripture and the ultimate culture of heaven, students will gain practical insights for engaging today's diverse world with Christlike love and truth.
This understanding is more urgent now than ever. In a world fraught with tension—from diplomatic summits and international trade disputes to local debates over immigration and national unity—true harmony often feels like a rare exception. To move beyond division, we must learn to understand one another. By learning to bridge these cultural divides, we can communicate more effectively and, most importantly, reflect and share the culture of heaven and the grace of our Lord with a world in need.
