Sharing Your Faith In A Secular World
GLBC continued our annual sponsorship of Young Adult Weekend at Camp Omagh. We had between more than 20 'campers' join us to learn about 'Sharing Your Faith in a Secular World', some from as far away as the Timmins area!
We had three speakers share on Finding our Natural Evanglistic Style (Cody Glover, Fenwick CofC), Building on Christian Values in Culture (Glen Robins, Stoney Creek CofC), and Examples of Sharing Our Faith (Jason Gennings, Waterloo CofC).
In addition to the lectures, we of course took time for camp classic activities like campfire, glow-in-the-dark capture the flag and board games!
As part of our sponsorship, GLBC helps to subsidize the Camp Fee and own the program. We also had the opportunity to share with participants about our other offerings like the Foundational Certificates, and the upcoming short course to be held at Camp Omagh (Aug 31- Sep 4), Understanding Culture and Engaging With People- contact us for more info.
Special thank you to the volunteer Planning Committee (Ben, Hailey, Jonathan, Juliette) who started working months ago to do everything from developing the theme & activities to executing & leading throughout the weekend. In addition, thanks to the Kitchen Staff (Jeremy, Christy) who kept us well fuelled for the fun (by the way, the late night snacks were a hit).
By God's grace, these young people had the chance to get better equipped to share their faith in the world around them, and to develop friendships with other like minded people. One of the participants told me their key take away will be "Stronger bonds with young people in the Church".
To God Be the Glory,
Immanuel Velasco, President
