Sharing Your Faith In A Secular World

My wife said that she knew that I would be involved in full-time ministry even before I did. When we met almost 20 years ago, I’d already spent many years helping to lead the youth at my home congregation, went on a short-term mission to Papua New Guinea, and taking on roles at Christian camps. As years went ahead, we were married and I continued to serve as time would allow. Now, with a growing family and career, my availability was shrinking, and I had to more carefully choose where I would spend my time. By 2017, One of the ministries that I chose to volunteer with was the board of Great Lakes Bible College. This was a wonderful opportunity that let me express my faith and utilize the professional skills I'd been honing for the last 10+ years. In 2022, the role of President came up at GLBC, and after prayer and discussion with my wife, we confirmed the call to put my name forward. I have now been in this role for three years- blessed by God, and His people to serve in full-time ministry through Great Lakes Bible College

Approximately 20 young adults from four different congregations came together for a weekend focused on spiritual growth and fellowship. The theme, “Spiritual Habits,” guided our time together.

These remarks come from Immanuel Velasco, President, at the 2025 GLBC Graduation. The program was held as a Hybrid Event, with locations across Ontario and attendees indvidually online.

Knowledge about God's character invites and demands a response. Our Ministry Experience Credits help students to better serve. Each four-month term, students take opportunities to gain practical ministry experience through serving in their home and other local congregations. Students design projects from the four main areas of Jesus’ ministry from the Bible outlined in our Ministry Experience Syllabus, and related ideas they have generated, that have immediate impacts and practical benefits in the congregations they serve and in growth of their God-given gifts and skills: Here are 9 great examples of real four-month ministry experiences- GLBC students serving in real situations with their congregations, etc.
