Church of Christ- Considering Vocational Ministry?

If you're considering vocational ministry in Canada, GLBC may be for you

What Is Vocational Ministry?

Vocational ministry is commonly understood as a career in which someone is paid for working full-time in a Christian organizational setting. Missionaries, and full-time evangelists are examples of people involved in vocational ministry.

Vocational Ministry begins with a personal sense that God is calling you to be set apart for ministry within and to the body of Christ. This calling should be viewed and supported by the larger church.

Vocation comes from a root word meaning "Calling", and in a modern secular worldview it can often be used interchangeably with "Career" or "Occupation".

As Christians, our calling does not always become our occupation. For example, the Apostle Paul was called to minister to gentiles (Acts 22:21), but was a tentmaker by occupation (Acts 18:3).

Regardless of whether our occupation matches our vocation, we can work at it with an attitude of serving God. Vocational ministry is doing what God’s called one to do for the service of Him and others.

Scholarship Opportunity for full-time at Great Lakes Bible College

Do you or anyone in your congregation want to pursue full-time occupation in ministry? Perhaps you've been called to Christian Ministry as a "second career", or as part of your early retirement plan.

Through planned giving, the Williams-Bennetts Fund has been created with the purpose of helping students step into to full-time studies and "vocational ministry" with Churches of Christ. Ideally, candidates should be connected with a congregation of the Church of Christ in Canada.

For qualifying students, tuition and the option for modest living expenses may be covered.

The Williams and Bennetts families have been involved with Great Lakes Christian College and Great Lakes Bible College since their inception. This fund was established with their partnership to share God's blessings and honour that relationship.
