Corporation Membership

Origin of Great Lakes Bible College

Great Lakes Christian High School (formerly Great Lakes Christian College) once offered a post-secondary program known as the School of Bible and Missions (renamed in 1975).

In 1987, this post-secondary program received its Ontario Charter through Private Member’s Bill Pr5 in the Legislature of Ontario, officially establishing Great Lakes Bible College (GLBC) as an independent institution.

The Charter also provided for oversight by a governing body of Corporation Members.

Corporate Membership Eligibility

Membership in the Corporation is open to any individual who:

  • Is a member in good standing of a church of Christ congregation
  • Is at least 18 years of age
  • Pays the appropriate membership fee
  • Is approved by the Board of Trustees

Structure and Governance

Members of the Corporation elect a Board of Trustees, which is directly responsible for directing the affairs of GLBC.

The Corporation also regulates the College’s by-laws, which define the function and authority of the Board.

In essence, the Corporation operates as a grassroots organization, ensuring that GLBC remains accountable to and guided by the church community it serves.
