Audit to Credit Policy
Setting You Up for Success
At Great Lakes Bible College, our primary goal is to support your academic and spiritual journey. The Audit to Credit Policy is designed to safeguard your academic record, ensuring you build a strong foundation of success without the burden of incomplete or failed courses, which can lower your GPA and make catching up difficult.
By starting courses on an audit basis, you can adjust to the academic workload and prove your readiness before committing to a permanent credit record.
Pathway for Credit–Seeking Students
1. Initial Inquiry & Interview
All new students intending to take courses for academic credit begin by completing the Connect With Admissions Form. This is followed by a brief, supportive interview with the Dean to discuss your goals, schedule, and calling.
2. Full Application & References
If there is a clear alignment of your time, commitment, and academic aptitude, you will be invited to fill out the full undergraduate application. You will need to provide academic and personal references, whom the Dean will contact directly.
3. The Audit-to-Credit Transition
- The First Step: All new credit-seeking students start their first course(s) as auditors.
- The Transition: Once you successfully complete all required coursework with an acceptable grade, the course designation is officially upgraded from Audit to Credit on your transcript.
- Pacing Your Studies: To ensure a strong and healthy start, students transferring on academic probation from other schools, or those with limited study experience, will be limited to taking one course at a time.
Transitioning from Auditor to Credit Student
If you initially enroll purely as an auditor but later feel called to pursue a certificate, diploma, or degree, you are welcome to transition! To convert your audited courses into academic credit, you will simply follow the standard credit-track application process outlined above.
